Terms of Service

Draft: not yet reviewed by a lawyer. This page must be reviewed and finalized before public launch (see docs/LEGAL.md).

Plain-English summary first, details below.

The short version

1. The service

Crayon CS (“we”) provides online lessons, exercises and projects about computer science. Foundations content is free. Advanced content requires a paid subscription once available.

2. No accreditation, no guarantees

Crayon CS is not an accredited institution and is not affiliated with any university. Certificates of Completion show that you finished our material; they are not degrees, diplomas or academic credit. We work hard to be accurate, but content is provided “as is” without warranties, and we don’t guarantee any educational, employment or exam outcome.

3. Age

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or subscribe. The free lessons can be used without an account.

4. Acceptable use

5. Our content

All lessons, text, illustrations, widgets, exercises and code on Crayon CS are owned by Crayon CS. You may use them for your personal learning. You may not copy, republish or sell them. Code you write in exercises belongs to you.

6. Subscriptions (when Advanced launches)

Prices, renewal terms and cancellation will be shown clearly before purchase. You’ll be able to cancel online at any time. Payments are handled by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Crayon CS is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. We’ll note the date of the latest change on this page.
